Hunting Dinosaurs with Intel AI Technologies

Live Virtual Workshop
Tuesday, November 29, 2022, from 09:00am to 11:00am PST

Join us for this fascinating workshop: Hunting Dinosaurs with Intel AI Technologies

This innovative workshop guides you through the AI techniques to create a likelihood map of discovering dinosaur bones in different locations. Explore machine-learning algorithms powered by Intel® oneAPI software, including Intel® Extension for Scikit-learn*, NumPy, and Intel® Distribution of OpenVINO™ Toolkit.

The workshop covers these topics:

  • Using Scikit-learn, we preprocess metadata and experiment with semi-supervised learning and clustering techniques, focusing on known dinosaur bone beds.
  • Applying metadata labeling to aerial photos to be fed to a convolutional neural network, we use the Intel® oneDNN library to classify the aerial images.
  • Using Intel OpenVINO Toolkit, we tap the inference capabilities of Intel® CPUs to process thousands of images and create a bone likelihood map. This map can be applied to other regions of the globe other than the region initially used for training.

Note that because dinosaur bones on US Federal lands are protected, the actual map created will be blurred to maintain privacy.
